Teachers to resume class, MSSA calls off stir, power employees suspend proposed strike

The cease work strike launched under the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO appears set for a premature end as a number of associations have worked out agreements with the government.
Higher Secondary School teachers have today decided to resume teaching from Monday keeping in view of the interest of the student community.
The decision to resume class was taken during a special general body meeting of the All Manipur Government Higher Secondary School Lecturers� Welfare Association at CC Higher Secondary School today.
The teachers said they decided to resume class following fervent appeals from the Manipuri Students� Federation, All India Students� Federation AMSU to think about the plight of the students who stand to lose much.
The teachers however hastened to add that they would carry on with their strike and resumption of classes does not mean they have called off their agitation.
They would take recourse to other form of agitation.
Representatives of the teachers� body would soon go to Delhi to highlight their grievances to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and the Union minister for Human Resource Development, they informed.
The teachers said if the government does not give in to their demands then they would stay away from all works related to HSLC and HSSLC examination next year.
Meanwhile the All Manipur Government Joint Higher Secondary School Students� Union has welcomed the decision of the teachers.
On the other hand the Manipur Electricity Employees� Union has canceled its proposed cease work strike from December 3 following an agreement reached between the government and the union today.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the union and the Principal Secretary (Power) who represented the government.
The Manipur Secretariat Services Association along with Manipur Secretariat Drivers� Association, Manipur Secretariat Grade IV Employees Union and Federation of Elementary School to College Teachers� Association has also called off its cease work strike following an agreement reached with the government.
Both sides agreed to the proposal that the state government will restore the HRA and TA from April 1 next year and the order will be issued immediately.
It was also agreed that the period during which the employees are on strike will be adjusted against any kind of leave available in the account of each employees.
